COLLIER COUNTY PARKS & RECREATION BROCHURES
"I don't want dull and boring government information brochures," were the instructions from the Park
Ranger in charge of developing an effective communications vehicle for six parks and beaches in
Collier County. How do we make thousands of visitors to our area aware of the fabulous shelling
at Clam Pass Beach, the premier birding at Tigertail, rare gopher tortoises at Barefoot Beach, and
the butterfly garden at Sugden Park? AboveWater PR and Marketing was given the challenge to create
a series of brochures that told the reader what kinds of animals might be found at each location.
The information needed to include standard rules and regulations as well as interesting descriptions
of the amenities. We produced six different die-cut designs with bold colors and fun shapes to ensure
park visitors will pick them up and read.
TOWN OF FORT MYERS BEACH
AboveWater handles the pre-publicity for the annual Fort Myers Beach Film Festival. By promoting the
independent filmmakers, AboveWater has helped establish a greater credibility and rapport within the
industry and media coverage of the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival In addition to the festival publicity,
an item of note was a successful placement in SMALL CITIES, a government trade magazine, highlighting
the efforts of the Town to bring tourists and the community together by developing a film festival.
While the Fort Myers Beach Film Festival had plenty of government support, it was striving for
attention among a plethora of festivals and needed to increase film industry connections that
would bring filmmakers to this family-friendly beach location. Family was the focus as our
strategy included free films on the beach for the community and tourists, Kids Fest, a student
film competition, and contests for festival poster art, best costumes from favorite films, and
a coloring competition. The tide has turned as festival headquarters now get calls from
filmmakers who are striving to finish new films in time for the Spring festival. Several
films have met with success** after premiering right here in Southwest Florida!
** Emmy Award-winning "Amargosa," www.amargosafilm.com; "BachelorMan," www.comedyontap.com
