Cynthia M. Dobyns

Relocating her strategic public relations expertise from Alexandria, Virginia to Naples, Florida, Cynthia has created and implemented marketing communications programs for a variety of industries including restaurants, resorts, private clubs, tourism, fashion and retail. While in the DC area, she helped launch the conference center brand for Marriott Hotels and Resorts, handling 30 properties across the country. With 20+ years of experience in the hospitality and travel industry, she has represented luxury resorts, conference centers and destinations throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean. She served as Area Director of Public Relations for the former Registry Resort, Edgewater Beach Hotel, and Naples Grande Golf Club before opening AboveWater Public Relations and Marketing, LLC in 2002. Earlier in her career, she was Corporate PR Director for Sentry III, Ltd. a hospitality management firm based in New York City. Cynthia served as a board member for the New Jersey Travel Industry Association and hosted two Governor’s Conferences on Tourism in NJ and FL. Cynthia is Past President of the Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising Association of Collier County (PRACC ), served on the board for the Naples Press Club and is a national member of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
AboveWater’s work has been acknowledged by Golden Bell Public Relations awards from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International, Addy Awards from the Advertising Federation of Southwest Florida, a national Aurora Award for Film and Video and a national Silver Anvil Award of Excellence from PRSA in 2006. AboveWater affiliates are members of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW).
